Receiving procedures
How a delivery works at North Yard, in the order it happens. This page prints as a handout — a booking office can print it for a driver.
Before you book
Book by phone or email at least one working day ahead. You will be given a booking reference — write it on the delivery note. The yard takes the slots shown on the schedule page; a slot is a receiving window, not a promise that the yard is empty.
Every load must carry the documents in the checklist below. If a document is missing, phone the yard before the truck leaves — a short call is cheaper than a turned-away load.
On arrival — the five steps
1 · Stop at the marked line
Pull up at the white line before the office window and stay in the cab until you are called forward. The entrance lane is one vehicle wide; do not block it while you wait.
2 · Report to the office window
Bring the booking reference and the delivery note to the office window. Loads without a booking reference are turned away — the reference is the one given when the slot was booked by phone or email.
3 · Wait in the numbered bay
You will be directed to a numbered waiting bay. Engine off, handbrake on. Stay in the cab or in the marked waiting area while the load ahead of you is handled.
4 · Paperwork and seal check
The seal number is read against the delivery note before anything is lifted. Damage that is visible before unloading is written on the note and photographed, so it is settled on paper, not argued about later.
5 · Unloading and sign-off
The reach stacker or forklift takes the load in the bay. When the note is signed, leave by the marked exit lane. A signed copy stays with the driver.
Paperwork & inspection
The paperwork check takes about ten minutes for a single container. The seal is compared with the delivery note, the container number is recorded, and visible damage is noted before unloading. If the papers are wrong — a mismatched seal or a missing reference — the load waits in the bay while the booking office sorts it out by phone.
Refusals & waiting time
A load is refused when it is on the not-accepted list, when it has no booking reference, or when it arrives outside its slot by more than an hour. The first hour of waiting inside a booked slot is free; waiting beyond that is recorded on the delivery note and settled with the booking office afterwards.
Document checklist
The checklist is a planning aid for this visit. Ticks are not stored and nothing is sent anywhere.
